Lever Golf

Weighing expectations

You are watching golf on television, and it looks fun.
The trees, the beautiful flowers, the incredible fountain on the feature hole, and not a blade of grass out of place. When you look at a golf course, it makes you feel like you want to golf. Undoubtedly
this is a large part of the allure to
golf. A beautiful walk in the park.

Golf could be a beautiful walk in the park if your expectations were not to be a golfer.
Now you take the next step to becoming a golfer. You purchase your first set of clubs that do not come with instructions. Let us call that an even 400 dollars. [USED] You know you want to look the part, so you spend another 200 dollars on a nice outfit. The cool factor is the sunglasses that sit on top of your hat, 100 dollars.
That’s right, you guessed it, a golf bag to match your outfit 200 dollars—golf balls, tees, towel, etc.
Let’s call it an even 1000 dollars, and you haven’t gone for your first walk in that park.
What were you expecting?

Ready to set off to your local driving range? You purchase your first bucket of balls, step outside, and you’ve got this.
First swing whiff, second swing whiff, step back, look to see who is watching ” nobody cares.” Next swing, you make contact, and there is hope.
If you expect never to hit the ball because swinging in the air is fun to you, then your expectations align with the practice you have put in.

Therefore you probably won’t be frustrated. I should mention that I have been golfing for almost forty years yet to meet anybody who is content missing the ball more than they make contact.
You are starting to understand where I am going with this. If you enjoy this game at any level, I highly recommend your first purchase be a putter, a wedge, and lessons. If you expect to be a “golfer.”
Unfortunately, swinging a golf club
can look simple, but something as easy as holding the club with an improper grip will prevent you from progressing in this sport.

Here is where it can become confusing.
Everything I write about in these articles I have experienced.
I believe that you should make progress in any endeavor for the time you put in.
All too often in golf, you may think you have figured it out, only to realize what you have figured out was only good for that day or that week, in some cases a little longer.
Heads up, this happens to everyone, not just you.

Most people with some lessons will eventually be able to strike the ball with some consistency.
If you happen to be an exceptional athlete, it can help to some degree. Sports and activities such as dance, bodybuilding, and others that require a high level of body awareness allow one to put their body in proper positions related to the golf swing.
If you are starting this sport
for the first time, you are one of the lucky ones.
You can choose to join our Lever Golf community and eliminate most of the frustration undoubtedly coming your way with the traditional swing.

I said earlier that I had experienced everything that I addressed in these articles.
The truth is that I was a scratch golfer, and I did not enjoy the game.
The swing was too hard, and I never felt in control of the club, the ball, or my game.
Because I had an outstanding career as an athlete and trainer, I knew I could trust myself when choosing to stop golfing eight years ago. I stopped golfing to develop the Lever Golf Swing.
You won’t need to wonder if you can be a good golfer. You can expect that you will get as good as the time you put in.
People chose Lever Golf for many reasons.
Most people want to have a swing that they can play with year after year to know that they will get better if they practice.
Others want the ability to come off the road as truck drivers and have the ability to hit some incredible shots and expect some not-so-good strikes.
